WELCOME TO THE 2011-2012 SCHOOL YEAR FROM PRINCIPAL OLSON
On behalf of Coeur d’Alene High School students and staff, I would like to welcome you to the 2011-2012 school year. As the Principal of CHS, my goal is to work with the community in providing quality education, setting high expectations, and creating a caring community for all students. Our teachers and staff members look forward to working with you to provide the very highest quality education for your students. We will work to make each student’s school experience here at CHS a positive and productive one. The students are why we are here. They not only excel academically, but are also learning about respect, citizenship, relationship building and social skills, which we at Coeur d’Alene High School consider to be equally important. We strive to create an environment where students feel safe, comfortable, and respected. Our website can serve as a valuable resource when questions about our school, specific school programs and school policies arise. Please consult these resources throughout the school year.
Monday mornings will again feature time set aside for teacher collaboration. As such, students will begin their school day one hour later each Monday morning, at 8:40 a.m., rather than the regular 7:40 a.m. start time. The purpose of this weekly collaborative session is to provide a predictable time when educators can focus on the improvement of instructional practice. During collaborative time sessions, staff members learn new skills, discuss student work, analyze assessment data and share effective instructional strategies. This time is very valuable as we continue to work toward meeting the individual needs of each of our learners.
I am excited to be a part of the staff and parent community that make Coeur d’Alene High School such a great place for students. Our staff is student-centered, caring, and motivated toward the success of all students. Our parents are supportive and help out with many activities throughout the school. I welcome you to visit our school and/or to call or email me at anytime with comments, concerns, and suggestions.
